    MIDLANDS PROGRAM: "THE PRINCIPAL'S PERSPECTIVE"
    During October's event, we will be hosting a panel consisting of principal representatives from large and small Architectural, MEP and Construction Management firms. Panelists will come prepared to answer the tough questions marketing and business development staff have avoided asking their senior leadership, and the panelists will shed some light on their expectations of the function of this discipline within their firms, as well as, lessons learned.

    ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

      Mary Beth Branham, AIA – LS3P

    Mary Beth Sims Branham, AIA is Vice President and Principal and Leads LS3P's Columbia office. LS3P is a regional firm with eight offices in the southeast (SC, NC & GA) and more than 300 professionals on staff. Mary Beth started the Capital Studio for LS3P in early 2004 - the only "start-up" office for the firm. The office grew quickly to a full staff of architects and designers, now Listed as the fifth Largest architectural office in the Midlands. In addition to managing an office that averages $80 to $100 million in construction per year, Mary Beth 's responsibilities include business development and preliminary project programming/visioning and design. Involved with the American Institute of Architects throughout her career, Mary Beth served in Leadership roles on a Local, state, regional and national Level. This ultimately Led Mary Beth to becoming the second female President of AIA/SC in 2004.

    Active in the community, her involvement in professional organizations currently includes CREW, ULI and A4LE. An advocate for diversity in the profession, she began and currently chairs the ACE Mentor Program of the Midlands to expose more high school students to the opportunities in the architecture, construction and engineering professions.

      David Kinard – HDR

    David has spent his entire career working on complex transportation projects in the Carolinas. His diverse background includes experience in design, construction, maintenance, program management, environmental documentation and the development of contractual documents.

    He has been successful in managing complex and controversial projects and programs with varying influences from governmental organizations, stakeholders, elected officials, design staffs, consultant engineering companies, property owners, and leadership teams. As a former SCDOT Program Manager and now a Program Manager with HDR, David is extremely proficient and experienced in all types of project management and engineering activities. With a focus on communication, dependability, and responsiveness, David prides himself on understanding what goes into the successful delivery of transportation projects.

      Heather Mitchell – Boudreaux

    As architect and president of BOUDREAUX, Heather Mitchell’s design leadership is energizing Columbia with the opening of USC’s School of Law, the transformation of Richland Library Main and of a vacant historic building for BOUDREAUX’S offices, along with the Girl Scout’s Leadership Center. She promotes Columbia’s development as a founding board member of One Columbia for Arts and History and now serves on the Columbia Chamber’s Executive Committee. She is a member of Midlands Business Leadership Group working to advance regional competiveness. A Liberty Fellow, she has launched the Riley Mayors’ Design Fellowship to educate Mayors on community planning. She started at BOUDREAUX right out graduate school 23 years ago and has been leading marketing and business development efforts since becoming a partner in 2004 and President in 2006.

     Bill Cram – MBKahn

    William W. (Bill) Cram has been in the construction industry for 47 years. He holds his degree in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University. Bill has been with M.B. Kahn Construction for 26 years. M.B. Kahn is one of the largest construction companies in the southeastern US, and is rated as one of the top builders in the nation’s education market. Bill is Executive Vice President of the Construction Management Division, and has managed construction of educational facilities totaling more than $2.5 billion. Additionally, the CM Division portfolio includes the construction of Libraries, Convention Centers, Performance Centers, Airports, Parking Garages as well as Infrastructure improvements.

    REGISTRATION DETAILS & CANCELLATION POLICY FOR ALL SMPS PROGRAMS
    The ticket price for members and non-members includes lunch.  Due to limited seating, online registration is highly encouraged. A $10 late fee will be incurred for all walk-in registrations. Payment via cash or check is only accepted when paying at the door, and all checks should be made out to: SMPS Palmetto

    Refunds will only be granted if cancellation is made within 48 hours of the start time and will only be provided in the form of a credit to another program. No refunds will be made for no-shows. Email info@smpspalmetto.org for substitution or refund requests.
